Body

The Role and Purpose of Gwellheans

Gwellheans is a non-residential service that provides individually-tailored structured day programmes for people recovering from drug addiction, who are either clean of street drugs or on a substitute prescription. We also offer help to people with a history of alcohol abuse. We provide a wide range of groups, projects, activities in house as well as individual support and also have links with an extensive range of community resources

Our Mission and Vision

Our mission is to help people who have started on the process of recovery to move away from a life involving problematic drug or alcohol use to a new positive, satisfying and drug-free life in the community

Our vision is to provide a bridge to recovery for people overcoming substance misuse and addiction.

We aim to offer a comprehensive service that includes through assessment leading to the preparation of a care plan with an individually-tailored, structured day programme. The programme may involve both activities at Gwellheans and the use of other resources in the community. This will be followed up by regular reviews and further planning. The overall aim is to help clients take control of and re-build, their lives by using appropriate resources in the community in order to help them to achieve a full recovery.

We are not a substitute for other resources in the community. Our work is based on social care and rehabilitation which compliments medical, non-medical and therapeutic approaches.
